Hey, do any of you suppose the guy wears a wig? Not that it detracts from his acting abilities, or anything, it's just a general inquiry. If you do, since when do you suppose he's..."sported" one?

A "hair weave"? Amitabh Bachchan? Hmm. Just Being, where did you see (or hear [was it written, or televised]) this interview? Wrath, I love Akayla; it's one of my favorite Amitabh-Bachchan movies. During which part did you notice a "bald patch"? He, maybe on the HD-DVD release, they'll "digitally edit" it out, so I'll check on my DVD copy (while it still works). ! I don't know, but I don't think that he has "woven" hair or implants. Of course, I think he dyes it, but, in most of his films, I don't think it's "unnatural." That said, I'm probably being a dense idiot for thinking this. Hell, in the special features on the Khakee DVD, I think Bachchan actually says something to the effect of, "I'm wearing a wig commensurate with my part." It's almost obvious that it's not his "real hair," in some films (e.g., Boom, Ek Ajnabee), but in others (e.g., Dev, Family), it's a bit more ambiguous. Oh, well, I guess we'll never "really" know; but then, that's OK.

commando303, i thought u knew this! being a Bachchan fan and all. Here's the explanation:

the scene in Akayla (I saw) was when he is in the river beating the villain (climax) the hair is wet and being blown by police helicopter. Camera is behind him.

Bachchan had hair weaving done around '95 when he launched his ABCL and was gonna be back on screen. (everyone needs to shave hair for this) so did he. In miss world show by ABCL, he was sporting a baseball cap (wonder why eh) Filmfare awards 1996 he had very short jet black hair performing on stage (bally sagoo songs)

as the hair grew he did films like Mrityudaata, Bade Miyan... etc (this looked like a wig but it was actually implanted, jet black, and hanging down mostly.

now he has added a bit more volume, brown hair (less glossier)and combes it more neater, which looks more natural for his age. not forgetting the white goatie beard post Mohabbatein which adds maturity (instead of old man acting young!)

I have seen so many pictures of AB in mags with so much hair loss in front, and long locks behind. cant believe some dont believe its implanted.

Jackie shroff, sunny deol have done it. Salman i think recently. I think Akshaye Khanna needs to seriously. (all had bald or short hair or at one point, this is the clue!)

no as just being quoted, he himself said in an interview that he has weaven hair... in akayla remember the scene in the water when he captures the villian... after the scene when the helicopter comes u can see it... if u have a dvd it can be easily seen... i too love the movie

Wrath, you know what, I have to be honest: The first time I saw the movie (whe I was a kid), I thought I noticed something. Immediately thereafter, though, I think I just repressed it (I was about six years old, and my idol couldn't be balding — lol). I guess I just never really paid attention to the moment upon any subsequent viewing of the film. Anyway, I think it's a terribily under-rated film. I feel that it's one of Bachchan's best performances and films, and that it's much better than one of Ramesh Sippy's other ventures: Shaan (though it, too, isn't "bad").

BrownBoy05, I didn't know, man (read what I jusut wrote to Wrath for my experience regarding Akayla! Lol. As for the mid-1990s, I was never really exposed to Bachchan's "current state of affairs." We didn't have cable, and, thus, the only access I had to Amitabh Bachchan, was his films, which we'd get on (crappy) VHS from the local video store. I don't think I've ever seen Bachchan's hosting that beauty pageant (though I did hear of it) or on stage at a FilmFare Awards show.

I did think that Bachchan's MrityudaataKohram films had him with somewhat strangely "flat" hair. I agree that it looked a bit "wig-like," but I thought it "couldn't be," as it was suddenly very different from Mohabbatein onward. Other than the color, as you said, it was shorter, and had more volume. I think it looked almost weird in Ek Ajnabee, though (which, per se, is odd, as I read that Apoorva Lakhia, in the film, wanted to re-capture Bachchan's "heydey look"). I think that Amitabh probably never really "lost" his hair; it just got a bit thinner. If, until Khuda Gawah, it was all his natural hair, then it wasn't even slightly scanty at the front (and even the back was more than covered). It's interesting, though, that during his recent illness (2005), when he probably wouldn't have worn a wig even if he normally did, we always saw him with a cap on his head (except in that one shot, where we see him ready to go home). It seems that Shah Rukh Khan really is one of the few who has a headful of hair. Oh, well, whatever. Amitabh Bachchan's awesome no matter what!

Stop trying to be akalya and get the forehead implant done

  11. I don't live in Rexdale, I live in Etobicoke.

And I don't have hair implants. I'm sporting Salman's new look. Ganja!!!

I think there is no doubt he has had "something" done to his hair. In a way it makes him more human, and you can understand why he lost his hair after his political stint, stress of ABCL etc... if he did what most actors in his age group do and let his hair just fall out naturally, he would have been retired a long time ago.
